We are the face of the planning profession within Alberta, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. We serve the public interest by providing regulation, advocacy, promotion, and services for our members.

Planning is a key agent in shaping our communities and leading how we adapt to and manage the physical, economic and social forces that affect our communities.

The  Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) is a professional regulated organization of private and public sector planners practicing in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

APPI is governed as a public accountable organization with an obligation to serve the public's interest under the Professional and Occupational Associations Registration Act.

World Town Planning Day

Planning Matters

Each year planners around the world engage in activities on World Town Planning Day in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of planning in their communities.

Join us on November 8 for a 24-hour online conference that will include a series of seminar sessions hosted by the planning institutes and associations. This year’s conference will Each session will be seamlessly streamed from all around the world through an application called Periscope.  

Participate in the Online Conference

You are invited to submit an abstract and present during the 2016 World Town Planning Day online conference. Please refer to the website and submit the form before October 4 in order to be considered. 

This year’s conference will consist of a series of seminar sessions hosted by various reputable planning institutes and associations. Each session will be seamlessly streamed from all around the world through an application called Periscope.

The conference qualifies for 1.0 structured self reported units for each hour of learning.
